Neema Children's Choir of Uganda Visits ARES May 24http://alr.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/137Neema Children's Choir of Uganda Visits ARES May 24<p>We are excited to host the Neema Children's Choir from Uganda tomorrow, May 24<sup>th</sup>.  This choir of orphans from Africa will be performing for our students at various times throughout the day (see below).  Instead of an admission fee for our students to cover the cost of this choir visiting our school, we encourage students to bring in a loonie or twoonie to help support children in the choir.  Students can donate money, but they can also donate basic essentials such as toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, etc., NOT toilet paper), socks and underwear. Whatever is brought in by the students for this special presentation will be greatly appreciated by these under-privileged African orphans.</p><p>Our schedule is as follows: </p><p>Period 2 – Junior (Grades 1 – 3)<br>Period 3 – Intermediates (Grades 7 & 8)<br>Period 5 – Juniors (Grades 4 – 6)</p><p>The choir will also have a table of jewelry and other craft items available for sale to our students.</p><p>Thanks for your support!</p>

CANADA 150 ARTS NIGHT AT ARES - MAY 10 http://alr.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/136CANADA 150 ARTS NIGHT AT ARES - MAY 10 <strong><font size="3"></font></strong><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"></font></font><p><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3">Come on out and join us at a Canadian themed arts night on Wednesday, May 10th from 6:00-7:30 pm at the school. </font></font></p><p><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3">This is a school wide arts night with all students, Jk-Gr.8 participating. Our hallways will be transformed into an art gallery filled with Canada themed visual art. </font></font></p><p><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3">In addition, some of our students (individuals and groups) will be doing some dramatic or musical performances in the gym from 7:00-7:30 PM. </font></font></p><p><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3">We’re looking forward to a full house that evening and instead of an admission fee we ask that families make <strong class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1">donations</strong><span class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1"> </span></font></font><strong><font size="3">towards the Neema Children’s Choir of Uganda </font></strong><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3"><font face="Calibri,Calibri" size="3">who will be visiting our school on May 24 and performing for our students. Canada 150 Red & White Day - Thursday, May 4http://alr.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/134Canada 150 Red & White Day - Thursday, May 4<p>​Tomorrow is the 150th day of school at Algonquin Ridge.  In honour of Canada's 150th anniversary our school will be having a Red & White day.  Students are encouraged to wear red and/or white to school tomorrow.  As part of our special fun our school photographer will also be stopping by to take an aerial picture of our students organized in the shape of a Canadian flag.  For this purpose we need the students wearing red & white (mostly red) to allow for a good looking picture.</p>
